Then and Now

1982

The Learning Center was incorporated in 2015 as The Learning Foundation Inc., which is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  This new foundation will continue to work with children who have been professionally identified as having specific learning differences. The Learning Foundation Inc. is currently located on the campus of Fullington Academy at 314 Cypress Avenue, Pinehurst, Georgia.

Board of Directors

 The board of directors consists of Jan C. Peavy, Dr. Betsy E. Box, Shan Akin, Ray Clemons, and Gene Roney.  This dedicated team supports the Learning Foundation, Inc., by seeking funds for its growth, promoting its assets to the surrounding communities. The Learning Foundation, Inc. will continue to help the current and future students maximize their growing academic and social development.

STAFF

The formation of The Learning Foundation, Inc. will increase the availability of services in the middle Georgia area. The Learning Foundation, Inc. has a dedicated support team that has seen a need to broaden the services in this community. It is directed by Jan C. Peavy, who has 34 years of experience as the director of The Learning Center.  The staff consists of Janet Peacock, Assistant Director, who has Bachelor of Science in Sociology and is certified as a Special Education Teacher; Anna James who has a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and  Disorders; and Patricia Bailey, para-professional and parent of a learning center alumnus. 

Former students...
"I was fortunate enough to be among the first students to learn at The Learning Foundation at Fullington Academy. Miss Jan helped me get my B's and D's straight,  She and the tutors helped me turn 'John walked the bog' to 'John walked the dog.​'  I am not sure that dyslexia is ever cured, but the help I received from The Learning Foundation allowed me to move past it in a meaningful way.  
Today I am editor of a magazine...I can assure you this would not have happened without The Learning Foundation!"
