The Learning Foundation, Inc. provides programs to help students who have been professionally identified as having specific learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, attention deficit disorder or related neurological conditions. The Foundation will provide support for their families and practical methods of instruction for their teachers. Admission to The Learning Foundation, Inc. is based on written psychological evaluations, teacher recommendations and interview of the student and parents by The Learning Foundation, Inc. staff.
Who We Serve
A learning difference is generally defined as a cognitive dysfunction, which is frequently hereditary, and is characterized by an inability to deal with written symbols, despite average or above average intelligence, conventional instruction and socio-cultural opportunity. Some characteristics include short attention span, poor ability to organize, slowness in finishing work, and impaired concentration ability. Proper intervention can turn adversity into success.
What We Do
Specific Interventions may include the following:
Remedial instruction in math, reading, auditory discrimination and writing skills
Support study for organization and study skills in grades Kindergarten through 12th
Accommodations as indicated by each student’s psychological evaluation
Workshops for parents
Professional Development for Fullington Academy Staff
What We Believe
The Learning Foundation, Inc. believes that every student should have the opportunity to become the very best person possible. For the child with a learning difference, this is difficult without proper intervention. They may become frustrated and give up, resulting in feelings of inferiority and poor self-esteem. Through The Learning Foundation, Inc., students receive the proper academic remediation as well as specific remedial help with physical skills, peer interaction, and self-esteem. Our goal is to help each child maximize his/her potential. This is accomplished through a teamwork approach, structured material, organized activities, and a dedicated staff. This intervention prepares each student for transition to a traditional educational environment. Each individual student will be equipped with better skills in academics, organization, and self-advocacy.
